Political debate is often focused on economic indicators, such as GDP, inflation and unemployement. The long term performance of an economy, however, is very much dependent on a country's economic structure - its endowment of physical and human assests and the country's insitutions, values and traditions. Economic structure, in turn, is strongly influenced by government policy.
