David West is Reader in Political Science in the School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University, Canberra. His research and teaching interests include contemporary political theory; Hannah Arendt; Habermas and critical theory; theories of new social movements; and the politics of sexuality. His publications include ‘New Social Movements' in Handbook of Political Theory (edited by G. F. Gaus and C. Kukathas, Sage Publications, 2004) and Reason and Sexuality in Western Thought (Cambridge and Malden, MA: Polity Press, 2005).
