Shanghai Daily – Prominent business and union leaders on Monday endorsed a report recommending new strategy on Australia’s refugee policy, that would have mandatory detention phased out within two years and Australia’s intake of refugees significantly increased over five years.
The strategy report dismisses claims that harsh policies, including mandatory detention, offshore processing and temporary protection visas, will stop boat arrivals.
