The Entrepreneurs’ Programme offers support to businesses through accelerating commercialisation, business management, incubator support and innovation connections. The practical support provided includes advice from people with relevant private sector experience, co-funded grants to commercialise new products, processes and services; funding to take advantage of business improvement and growth opportunities; and connection and collaboration opportunities.

Ignite Small Business Start-Ups

Ignite Small Business Start-Ups is an initiative of Settlement Services International. Ignite facilitates both the creation of small businesses and the expansion of existing businesses for refugees. They have created a support system for refugee entrepreneurs where they aim to help refugees become integrated and self-sufficient in society.

New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS)

New Business Assistance with NEIS provides personalised support to help individuals become a self-employed business owner. There are 8600 places available nationally each year, delivered by a network of 21 NEIS providers. Approved applicants will receive training in small business management, business skills and assistance to develop your business plan. A NEIS allowance and rental assistance can be provided by the federal government to eligible applicants.

Stepping Stones to Small Business

Location: Victoria
Stepping Stones to Small Business aims to educate migrant and refugee women about money, and build women’s understanding of how to start a small business in Australia. It also aims to teach business and government leaders about how micro-businesses help refugee and migrant women, and why communities need more of these small businesses. A series of small business seminars are also open to all refugees and migrants (men and women) who are interested in starting a small business. These seminars explore the topics of finance, marketing and small business regulations.

Thrive

Thrive provides micro-finance and business support to help refugee entrepreneurs start and grow viable new businesses. Thrive also provides refugees with information about the Australian business market and the knowledge and steps required to start or expand a business, and post-loan mentoring to guide refugee entrepreneurs towards business success.
