Shivani Nadan

Shivani started her internship whilst finishing off her final year at the University of Technology Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Social Inquiry) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.  Shivani undertook her internship with CPD as part of her professional placement. She has always had an interest in public policy and had previously interned with organisations such as Cancer Council and Oxfam. Shivani was interested in contributing to an organisation that valued long-term solution to policy issues and worked on a variety of issues important to Australians. During her internship with CPD, she assisted with the publication of the report of Beyond the Boats: building an asylum and refugee policy for the long term, which included the collation of qualitative and quantitative data, draft media briefs, and proofing. She was also involved with the launch of the report in Canberra in November 2015. The internship equipped Shivani with a range of skills in research and writing, and also gave her a good understanding of stakeholder management. Following her internship, Shivani took on a role at CPD, initially as an Administration and Research Officer. She has since become the Operations Manager and Policy Analyst at CPD and has worked on a range of projects, including the Asia Dialogue on Forced Migration.
