Last night, we hosted the final event in CPD’s 10th anniversary series – a public forum in Sydney on the theme ‘Building a sustainable economy.’ We had an excellent line up of speakers on the night: APRA’s Geoff Summerhayes, new Clean Energy Finance Corporation Chair Steven Skala, ANZ’s Christina Tonkin, and CPD’s newest board member, Sam Mostyn. Geoff, Christina and Sam provided prepared remarks, after which they joined Sam for a panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Bloomberg’s Emily Cadman.
The speakers and panelists reflected on some key developments that have helped bring a much clearer focus to climate and sustainability-related risks in Australia and to reflect on the role many different actors – businesses, regulators and policymakers – have in building a more sustainable and prosperous economy.
Steven Skala said “it is the view of our Board is that we must make each dollar go further, to have a much larger impact in decarbonising our economy, to further fill the gaps where it is needed.”
